Watson Preschool begins at 8.45 am each day and concludes at 2.45 pm. This allows families to drop off and pick up preschoolers then make their way to the primary site for older siblings, if required.
The school day begins at 9.00am. We provide a teacher before school from 8.45am as a roving supervisor outside and our library is open from 8.30am every morning. Parents are welcome to come into the library at this time as well because sharing a story with your child is a lovely way to begin the day!
Kindy to Year 2 - children arrive at school and put their bags outside their classrooms. At 9.00am children line up in their class line to be greeted by their teacher and led into their classroom to commence the first session.
Years 3 to 6 - students place their bag in the line-up spots, the basketball court for year 5 and 6 and the paved area on Irvine Street for years 3 and 4. At 9.00am students will assemble in their designated area for morning messages.
We ask children not to be on the playground equipment before school as there is only one teacher out on duty. This is for the safety of all the children especially during winter months when it can be slippery.
We appreciate children being at school in time to begin the school day at 9.00am. If your child is late to school they will need to be signed in at the Front Office before heading to class.
To ensure the teachers and staff know who has left school early, if you require to pick up your child up early for any reason, you must sign them out at the Front Office. If your child is returning to school during the day they must be signed back in.
Leaving the School
Please inform the front office staff when students are moving interstate or transferring to another school in the ACT a leaving forms needs to be completed. Teachers should also be informed with plenty of notice so that they can prepare anything they need for the new school.
