School Houses

Students are allocated to a 'house' for special events and sporting carnivals and remain in this house throughout their primary years. Our school houses are named after Australian birds using an Aboriginal dialect from the Ngunnawal region. These birds have a special significance to the local area.

House Captains

Every year new House Captains and Vice Captains from year 6 are elected. Alongside these captains we have year 5 assistants for each House. Students who wish to stand for House Captains or year 5 assistants present a short speech to their house members and the house members then vote. This provides our students with great leadership opportunities during each of our school carnivals.

School Carnivals

At Majura we have three main annual school carnivals, swimming, cross country and athletics. The carnivals are run by teachers and we welcome volunteers to assist with all of our carnivals. Our swimming and athletics carnivals are run off school grounds and our cross country carnival is around the school area. From these carnivals students are selected to represent the school in the North Gungahlin regional carnivals, and then on to the ACT wide carnivals.
