English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D)
English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) students at Majura Primary School are supported in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Our EAL/D specialist teacher supports children by:
- working with teachers to plan programs.
- working with the whole class in the classroom.
- working with small groups both inside and outside of the classroom.
- working one-to-one with individual children both inside and outside of the classroom.
If students are withdrawn from class, these sessions are for 30–45-minutes either once, twice or three times a week (depending on the child and their level of need). During these sessions students have opportunities to develop their English skills through listening and speaking activities, expand their vocabulary through reading and work on grammar and writing skills.
