Non-Permanent Residents of Australia

Certainly children who are not permanent residents of Australia are welcome to enrol at Majura Primary School, however their eligibility to attend a school in the ACT as a non-fee paying international student must first be clarified by the International Students Unit of the ACT Department of Education and Training. A student's status as non-fee or fee paying is dependent upon their visa.

In the first instance parents/carers of non-permanent resident children should contact the International Education Unit on 02 6205 9176.

Immunisation

The ACT Department of Health requires schools to collect information regarding each student's Immunisation status. An Immunisation Record can be:

  • A child's "Blue Book"
  • A statement from the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register
  • Similar statement or record from other jurisdictions

For the Preschool year an Immunisation Record will be sighted/copied prior to commencing at the preschool unit.

Shortly after your child begins Kindergarten we will collect the blue and yellow carbon pages from the "Blue Book", or retain a copy of the immunisation statement.

If your child is not immunised, or you have no record of such immunisation, or you are not sure if he/she has been immunised, a Statutory Declaration must be provided to the school to this effect. Non-immunised children will be excluded from school in the event of an outbreak of a disease that is preventable by immunisation.
